Friends Are Friends Forever... When the Lord's the Lord of Them...

How true that is. Forever friends are treasured gifts from God. We had the privilege to spend today catching up with one such friend. Time and distance and busy lives had separated us for a number of years but we are rejoicing in being reconnected and certainly did not run out of things to talk about.

The bond that strengthens our relationship is our faith in Jesus Christ. Janet came into my life at the time I rededicated my life to Christ some 22 years ago. She encouraged me then and today we shared and encouraged each other in our daily journey and the hope we have for eternity. Thanks Janet for the blessing of your friendship! "I thank my God every time I remember you. " Philippians 1:3

God's Promises Ever True...

Welcome to the newly revived blog... Jack & Ruth's Most Excellent Adventure. It has been a long time since my first attempt at blogging back in 2007. Life has been busy... our darlings pictured previously have grown... Blogger has changed... yet there is one constant in our lives... GOD! He is ever faithful and His promises are ever true. That is one reason that rainbows are so special to me. They are God's reminder of how precious we are to Him and a the reminder of His promises to us.

We are blessed to live in a picturesque spot, facing east toward Mt. Baker and situated perfectly for the weather conditions that God uses to create His rainbows. We often see rainbows out our front window and grab the camera in efforts to capture the perfect composition. This shot, however, was taken out the car window as we neared home after a long day's adventure of garage sales and shopping. It was the crowning touch to end the day. Tonight as I just happened back into blogging with the additon of some new computer hardware and software... another blessing from God... I thought this the fitting picture to test my skills.

My daughter Theresa, http://www.tjknits.blogspot.com/, has been a great inspiration and encouragement to me... so here I go stepping out in faith and looking forward to this new adventure.

God's Hand in Ruth's Work...

While we were busy planning and making preparation in anticipation of our train travel to Texas to visit family we encountered an opportunity to live in faith when Ruth received a layoff notice from her job of 7 years at Korvan/Oxbo. After the initial shock and some spontaneous decisions which Ruth is so good at (Not!), with even a job interview thrown in, Ruth said goodbye to co-workers who surprised her with a farewell potluck luncheon on March 22nd, complete with balloons, flowers, etc. which Jack also got to share. What a way to go! We already had reservations for our trip so we packed in 3 days and made it on the train on the 25th. God gave us a respite time as we traveled 1st class with meals included going from Everett to Chicago where we had an overnight stay, then on to Austin, TX.

Catching Up...

Well... as you can see it's been a very long time since I began this blog, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

As we begin another new year, I am mindful of my mother, Holly, who was quite a quote persons. Today I came across this one which seems to be quite apropos as I reflect on the events of the past year:

"To See the Hand of God in Everything
Makes Life a Great Adventure"
I think this will be a theme for this blog as it fits with the blessings Jack and I have experience together in our relationship. So here we go...
